The Geekly with a Twist: November 30th-December 6th

Hey everyone, it’s the last day of NaNoWriMo, so it’s that last minute sprint for me. BUT, before I get to what you all came here for, I wanted to share a little bit of awesome sauce with you. Tomorrow morning (Saturday, December 1st) I will be LIVE on our YouTube Channel  starting at 10am CST with Jeff Hirsch, the author of The Eleventh Plague and Magisterium (which was AMAZING, fyi). Head on over to the channel to check it out as it’s happening, or you can always check out the interview afterwards on, you guessed it, our channel! Just be sure to enjoy it and share it! So, without anymore stalling, onward with the history!

November 30th, 1952: Mandy Patinkin (whose name is, sadly, not Inigo Montoya) is born in Chicago, Illinois.

November 30th, 1985: Penny (say that without knocking), that is, Kaley Cuoco, is born in Camarillo, California.

November 30th, 2004: Ken Jennings finally loses on his 75th consecutive appearance of Jeopardy! (Bonus, you should definitely check out his weekly trivia email. It’s super hard, but it’s a lot of awesome wrapped into one email. The signup box is in the left column.)

December 1st, 1975: Matt Fraction (yes, the comic book writer) is born in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

December 3rd, 1971: Keegan Connor Tracy, best known for multiple roles in the SciFi world (most recently the Blue Fairy on Once Upon a Time) is born in Windsor, Ontario.

December 4th, 1970: Yet another Big Bang actor, Kevin Sussman (Stuart, of course), is born in New York City.

December 5th, 1976: Yet another Once actor (I’m sensing a pattern here), the woman behind Astrid/Nova, Fred in the Buffyverse, and Dr. Saunders on Dollhouse (among other things), Amy Acker is born in Dallas, Texas.

December 6th, 1929: There IS  theme! Comic book artist Frank Springer is born in New York City.

How about, since we have a pattern with Once, a Blue Fairy Godmother for your Twist?

  • 2 parts Hpnotiq
  • 1 part Vodka
  • 1 part blue curacao
  • 2 parts sparkling lemonade

Mix the alcoholic ingredients in a shaker over ice. Add lemonade, stir, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with mini fairy wings or even a wand! Of course, this could look like she was squished into the cocktail, but that’s fun, too!

So, for a quick Garnish, how about something AMAZING.

As much as I love our meteorologists around here, I think this guy just blew them out of the water.

1500 words to go! Ack!

Until next week, WATCH THE LIVE INTERVIEW SATURDAY, geek on!
