The Geekly with a Twist: April 19th-25th

Hello again all, and what a week. While I realize this has been another historical week (unfortunately a most tragic one), I also realize the need for entertainment is paramount. Why not geeky historical entertainment? As such, onward with the history!

April 19th, 1975: India launches its first satellite, Aryabhata, in association with the Soviet Union. The satellite was named in honor of the great Indian astronomer, who lived in the first century CE.

April 20th, 1939: Hugo and Nebula award winning writer Peter S. Beagle is born in New York City.

April 20th, 1964: Andy Serkis, actor and director, is born in London (precioussss).

April 21st, 1971: Michael Turner, the comic book artist known for his runs on Witchblade, Soulfire, and Superman/Batman (as well as running his own company: Aspen MLT), is born in Crossville, Tennessee.

April 24th,1968: The man behind the monstrously devious Littlefinger, Aidan Gillen is born in Dublin, Ireland.

April 24th, 1970: Dongfanghong I, the first satellite of China, is successfully launched after one failed attempt in November the previous year.

April 25th, 1969: The one and only Gina Torres is born in New York City.

And you must have more, I realize, so check out:

Due to outages, the rest of the features won’t be in this week, but I’ll catch you all next week. Geek on!
