THE FLASH Will Meet Jesse Quick and Tokamak

There are more speedsters and villains in Barry Allen’s future. TVLine reports that Violett Beane and Demore Barnes are joining the cast of The Flash for season two.

Beane will play Jesse Quick, described as a “brilliant but quirky college student who gets caught up in the battle between The Flash and Season 2 Big Bad Zoom.”

In the comics, Jesse Chambers is the daughter of Johnny Chambers (Johnny Quick of the Justice Society) and Elizabeth “Libby” Belle (Liberty Belle of the All-Star Squadron). She has speed powers, as well as some of her mother’s abilities — enhanced speed, strength, stamina, and sonic vibrational pulses. Born after World War II, she later took over as Liberty Belle when her mother retired.

Of note is the fact that Jesse Quick also spent time as a member of the Titans, who will be getting their own show on TNT at some point in the future. Does this show the CW is planning ahead on the off chance cross-overs are possible with TNT and CBS?

Barnes joins the cast as Henry Hewitt, also known as the Firestorm villain Tokamak, who was affected by the same explosion that created The Flash. Hewitt is described as “a charming but cocky scientist” recruited by Caitlin Snow to join the S.T.A.R. Labs team.

The comics version of Hewitt managed to duplicate the experiment that created Firestorm. Taking the moniker Tokamak, Hewitt fought both Firestorm and Firehawk, the subject of Hewitt’s early experiments and the daughter of a U.S. senator.

The Flash is back on the air October 6.
