TAU Adds Maika Monroe and Ed Skrein; Goyer to Produce
Fresh off the Black List: Tau by Noga Landau. Now in production through David S. Goyer’s Phantom Four banner. Federico D’Alessandro is set to direct.
Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Ed Skrein (Deadpool) will star in the sci-fi thriller about Julia (Monroe), street-smart grifter kidnapped for use in a fatal experiment. The main obstacle to her escape is an artificial intelligence named Tau, developed by the man holding her captive (Skrein). Julia has to figure out how to dodge the multiple drones and smart house resources to make her way out of captivity.
“From the first moment Noga’s script made the Blacklist, we knew we wanted to be part of this special project,” said Goyer. “Federico’s vision for the film was one of the most assured director presentations I have ever seen. Our backing of these two new voices continues our commitment to emerging filmmakers. We want to thank Ken and the Waypoint team for helping us bring this exciting story to life.”

Goyer will co-produce for Phantom Four with Kevin Turen, along with Addicitve Pictures’ Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder. Waypoint Entertainment brought Tau to Addictive as part of a first-look deal. Waypoint’s Ken Kao, Dan Kao and Luc Etienne will also executive produce.
