Street Fighter X Tekken Has Hit the Streets [UPDATED]

Capcom® announced today that Street Fighter® X Tekken® is now available for PlayStation and Xbox 360 in North America retailers.

The tag-team game features thirty-eight characters from throughout both franchises, and has new gameplay mechanics that has been designed to fit both Street Fighter and Tekken players.

This entry into the game family also introduces the Gem system, which Capcom calls “a strategic new way to customize and enhance the fighting experience”. A total of 57 Gems (5 Assist and 52 Boost) come standard in the game, and players have the ability to equip three different Gems that improve upon weaknesses or capitalize on strengths.

The new iteration of the game also introduces “Scramble Mode” – in which four separate players can control each of the four characters on screen. And tag-team is just one of the many features in this game.

Characters include: Rolento, Zangief, Cammy, Sagat, Hugo, Ibuki, Poison, Dhalsim, Ryu, Ken, Guile, Abel, Balrog, Juri, Vega and Chun-Li from Street Fighter as well as Heihachi, Lili, Julia, Hwoarang, Raven, Kuma, Yoshimitsu, Steve, Kazuya, Nina, King, Marduk, Bob, Law, Paul and Xiaoyu from Tekken.

Capcom says this will be the only disc-based version of the game, with future upgrades coming from post-launch DLC. Which means upgrades won’t involve buying all-new discs somewhere down the line.

Street Fighter X Tekken is rated T for Teen by the ESRB and carries an MSRP of $59.99. A version for Windows PC will follow this May, with the PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system game scheduled for the fall.
