STAR WARS High Republic Delayed to 2021

Lucasfilm has confirmed that the High Republic publishing endeavor now has a revised release schedule, citing “marketplace delays”.

Set in a time about two hundred years before the events of The Phantom Menace, the High Republic is an interconnected, multi-publisher initiative that will expand the Star Wars universe with new characters, new planets, and new books and comic book stories.

In a letter to consumers, Lucasfilm Publishing Creative Director Michael Siglain wrote, “Now, I know that waiting isn’t easy. And I know fans have been excited for this since it was first announced. I’m right there with you. I’ve also been waiting to tell this story for years.” He goes on to say that the writers group is continuing work on new stories.

Light of the Jedi, the novel by Charles Soule, will now release on January 5, 2021, along with the middle grade novel A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland. Claudia Gray’s YA novel Into the Dark moves to February 2, 2021. The comic book titles from both Marvel and IDW will be announced at a later date.

The High Republic initiative was originally scheduled to begin rolling out in August, timed to coincide with Star Wars Celebration (which has yet to announce any change in schedule).
