September 23 Nintendo Direct Announcements
The September 2021 Nintendo Direct brought some news that has blown people’s minds. While sometimes they announce new DLC for games like Super Smash Bros or whatever Zelda game is hot, other times Nintendo can take us by surprise. On September 23rd, Nintendo had some jaw dropping news.
All eyes have immediately moved to the Super Mario Movie cast. The movie is set for December 21, 2022, and has announced a shortlist of actors: Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key and Seth Rogan. Chris Pratt has been announced as Mario meaning the typical voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, will not be voicing the character for the first time in years, but will be making vocal cameos in the movie.
For online users, your benefits will be getting a bit better. Currently, those with access to Nintendo Switch Online memberships also have a library of NES and Super NES games. In late October, there is a new membership plan that will also add classic Nintendo 64 Games and SEGA Genesis games. This announcement was shortly followed by new wireless controllers that represent the Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis controllers to use for these news add-ons.
The Kirby series is receiving a new game and is taking the 3D direction. Kirby And The Forgotten Land is set for spring 2022 in a game where Kirby can freely navigate the area as it explores a strange setting filled with abandoned structures and little civilization. From the trailers, people have taken to the internet claiming it is a Kirby game taking on Super Mario Odyssey and The Last of Us.
Aspyr got publicity this past Nintendo Direct as they are bringing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic to the Nintendo Switch on November 11th. The 15.6 GB RPG game is available for pre-order for only $14.99.
