SciFi4Me Radio: Introducing our Podcast

BANNER_FromTheEditor2013

If you’ve been following us with any consistency, you’ve probably seen our new feature here at SciFi4Me: our podcast. It’s something we’ve been discussing for a very long time, and I have to admit it’s been my own dinosaurian overthinking that delayed our entry into the realm of the podcast in the first place. Growing up with 8-track tapes and LP records and reel-to-reel, I sometimes have to just dive into a technology I don’t quite understand.

Now radio — that I can do. I spent my time at the college radio stations at both Oklahoma Christian University and the University of North Texas. I spun records, read the news, programmed shows, produced promos… it’s a language I understand, no matter what technology you use. Putting the podcast into that category has made it a lot easier for me to wrap my head around just what we’re doing.

So we’re calling it SciFi4Me Radio, and like our SciFi4Me TV channel over on YouTube, there will be plenty of selections for your listening taste. We’ve just debuted the first episode of the revamped Echo Chamber, along with H2O — Mr. Harvey and myself with our opinions about stuff and things — and there’s a podcast-friendly version of Week in Review.

Next week, we begin producing a weekly podcast centered around Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., recording a group chat after we watch each new episode. Brie and AJ are planning to circle back to the topic of convention etiquette, after having touched on it briefly in the Dragon*Con roundup. And we have more shows planned: Shelf Life will be our book review show, and we’re discussing a round-table comics review show as well. Plus, we’ll have more discussions and interviews with people in the genre. And I’m toying with the title Blue Milk for something…

There are several ways you can access the shows. Besides posting each new audio in its own spot on our main site here, we’ve set up a feed you can collect through Feedburner. The link is in the right-hand column on the site. And SciFi4Me Radio is also listed on iTunes. Plus, we now have a “Podcast” page on the top menu, and that will have an archive of all of our episodes.

Got a suggestion for a show? You’re welcome to share through our Contact page or leave a comment here. And please share the links with people who would be interested. We hope that by offering so many choices, everyone can find the SciFi4Me media that’s right for them. We do this because we’re fans, and everyone on the team volunteers the time and effort, so we appreciate everyone who comes for a visit to read or watch — and now listen to! — the fruits of our labor. As our audience grows, we hope to do even more.

Because this is a cool thing we do.
