Saturday Morning Post: Morning Entertainment

Good weekend, everyone! It’s finally Saturday, that beloved day of the workweek in which one can curl up in their TARDIS robe with a bowl of Count Chocula and watch Saturday morning cartoons. Well, if you’ve got Netflix, you can watch some awesome cartoons. Or, alternately, you can curl up in front of your computer and enjoy some amazing webseries (webserials?).

Of course, if you’re wanting an escape from reality, there’s plenty of amazing fiction shows on the web.

Currently, my favorite show on the web is Space Janitors. They’ve just started on their second season, so there’s plenty of time to catch up. Currently on Tuesdays on the Geek and Sundry channel, the show loosely parodies a certain property owned by Disney at the present and follows Social Group 417, two members of which are the titular janitors. Can Darby ever get the promotion he seeks from Dark Lord? Will Edith ever find harmony? We’ll just have to see what season two has for the group.

Another great fiction selection from the folks at Geek and Sundry is Learning Town. Learning Town is the awesome (and not-so-kid-friendly) adventures of comedians Paul and Storm on the set of the children’s show they’ve managed to inherit. Every episode includes a music video parody.

Of course, it goes without me saying this, but you need to see the webseries which really skyrocketed Felicia Day’s career: The Guild. Season six is done and on the channel, but you can always check out awesome extras at Geek and Sundry. Fingers are crossed for a movie, as things looked to have finished up (at least for now) with the final episode of the season.

One of my first deviations from The Guild in the web format of comedy was the Effin’ Funny series parodying The Legend of Zelda: The Legend of Neil. A guy who has basically given up on his pretty miserable life (the titular Neil) is transported into the realm of the 8 bit game (I’ll leave that to the theme song to describe exactly how it works). You’ll see a few familiar faces, including those of Felicia Day and (the creator of this show and a certain warlock on The Guild) Sandeep Parikh. There’s only a few seasons, so it’s a great way to kill a Saturday morning.

One of the other channels I’d be terribly missing out to forget to mention the lovely ladies of Comediva. One of the first shows I had ever watched from the channel was Geek Therapy with the lovely America Young as a therapist helping non geeks find their inner geek and geeks with their *unique* set of problems.

Also from Comediva, I’ve recently fallen for BAMF Girls’ Club. It’s a reality style parody show featuring every awesome girl from Buffy to Katniss. Sometimes it takes getting past the first episode, but it’s worth it!

Of course, if you ever need something a bit more non-fiction to pass the time, be sure to be subscribed to our YouTube Channel for news, updates, interviews, and panels from conventions! Until next week, enjoy your Saturday, geeks!
