S.H.I.E.L.D. Spinoff Adds a Fortune
Marvel’s Most Wanted, the new spinoff starring Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood, has added Delroy Lindo to the cast.
Lindo will play Dominic Fortune, who in the source material was an adventurer and sometime baseball player originally named Duvid Fortunov. Changing his name when he moved from New York to Los Angeles, Fortune started working as a costumed mercenary.
Fortune has worked with Mockingbird in the comics, during a run on Hawkeye & Mockingbird in 2010, when he worked with her after ingesting a flawed version of the original Super-Soldier serum that created Captain America. The copy serum, developed by Mockingbird, de-aged Fortune and affected his memory for a short time.
The character was created by Howard Chaykin and first appeared in Marvel Preview #2 (1975), followed by Marvel Super Action #1 (Jan 1976). He was based on an earlier Chaykin character called the Scorpion, developed for Atlas Comics, which published only a short run of titles before folding in 1975.
Lindo’s most recent work on ABC was on Blood & Oil. He appeared as Dr. Milton Winter in Believe on NBC, and has had roles in Gone in Sixty Seconds, The One, Sahara, and The Core, among his many television and film appearances.
Marvel’s Most Wanted will follow Palicki and Blood as S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse and Lance Hunter as their adventures spin out from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., presumably to pursue the Hydra story line while the parent show concentrates on the Inhumans story. (That’s our speculation on Level Eleventy-Seven, anyway.) The new show, which was on and off and then back on, was created and written by S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski, who will executive produce the new show with Jeph Loeb for Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
