Casting News

While no official news have been released yet, judging from a recent tweet from Haven star Eric Balfour, Emma Lahana, who played Jennifer Mason in the Syfy’s show last season, will not be returning for season 5. Seeing ho Jennifer became crucial to the show’s mythology towards the end of season 4, the writers might be facing some serious problems. It’s yet unclear if they will recast the character, or write her off. Maybe we will see the actress wrap up her role in the season premiere? I will keep you updated.

Carl Lumbly, of the Alias fame, was added to the ensemble cast of A&E’s The Returned. He will play Pastor Leon Wright, a kindly, perceptive man, the minister of a local church. Radiating compassion, he tries to guide Rowan (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) through difficult times.

Coming soon to Netflix

The Wachowski siblings and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski are teaming up with Netflix to create a new, sci-fi limited series Sense8. The recently release cast list is a serious cause for excitement. Starring in the show will be: Daryl Hannah, Naveen Andrews (Lost), Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Tuppence Middleton (Jupiter Ascending), Aml Ameen (The Butler), Terrence Mann (The Dresden Files), and Jamie Clayton. Rounding up the cast will be Tena Desae, Donna Bae, Max Riemelt, Miguel Silvestre, Alfonso Herrera and Eréndira Ibarra.

Straczynski teased the premise of the show:

The series follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally. They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.

Stars Speak Out

Sleepy Hollow co-creator Roberto Orci talked to She Knows about new characters (including villains) we will see in season 2:

One of the characters that we have coming in [is] this character Nick Holly He is an antiquities dealer, but he’s been all over the place, so through him we’re going to start to see how different religions and different myths start to overlap a little bit — how a lot of the stories we tell ourselves maybe have common origins.

We have a new historical figure who we’re going to feature prominently in the premiere, and then I think he will be a big part of the season: Benjamin Franklin. And he’s a blast. We’ve cast Tim Busfield and we’re having a lot of fun with him.

We’re introducing a creature called the Kindred, which is a doppelgänger to our Headless Horseman, and our heroes realize possibly one way to battle a monster is to create a monster of their own that they may or may not be able to wield or trust. We’ve got a very wicked twist on the Pied Piper this year as well.

Teen Wolf‘s Shelley Hennig talked to TVLine about her character, Malia, and the relationships she developed:

Malia is definitely learning what vulnerability feels like, because on the coyote side, I’m sure that did not exist. So being a human, especially a pubescent teenager, she’s experiencing a lot of things other humans are experiencing, but it’s more challenging for her because she hasn’t been in school for 10 years. She’s a little behind in her classes, and that’s where Lydia comes in; she’s really smart and agrees to help her. As Shelley, I face new things in my life every day, but nothing as new as Malia is facing, so I’m really enjoying playing that.

She has a very physical relationship with Kira. … Wait, that sounded wrong. [Laughs] I mean they fight together — the monsters, if you will. The Berserkers. What’s also great about that pair is that Kira is so afraid to stir the pot, whereas Malia doesn’t have a filter. So she can feel what Kira’s thinking and just say it outright. Sometimes it comes off a little abrasive, but Malia was a wild animal for 10 years, and the pack knows that. Her friends are also getting used to her personality, and Stiles is really there for her to remind the pack she’s trying. She’s loyal, but the way she says things isn’t exactly how she means them.

I love how unique [Stiles and Malia’s] relationship is. First of all, coyotes are very loyal and faithful animals. When they find their [mate], they mate for life. Malia has found this in Stiles, and she’s not going anywhere; she is 100 percent there for him. Whatever he asks her to do, she will do. She trusts him. What I also love about their relationship is that it’s something I haven’t seen on TV. Malia’s very aggressive. She’ll physically grab him, and that means she loves him, as opposed to brushing his face with her hands. She’s more likely to punch him; that’s her way of showing love. It’s like Malia’s the big spoon, and Stiles is the little spoon. Dylan [O’Brien] has been so gracious as an actor to accept that and not be like, ‘No, I’m a man.’ He’s so fun to work with because he’s willing to shrink around her.
