Roundup 9.5.11 – RIDLEY SCOTT

It seems Ridley Scott is going to be very busy for the next few years. So, let’s get caught up with his latest projects.

PROMETHEUS

Lance Henrikson has clarified that he is not currently involved with the Alien prequel that’s not really an Alien prequel. Over at Dread Central, while talking about his new book, he says he knows about the rumors, but he hasn’t been contacted to be in the picture.

Patrick Wilson, however, has joined the cast. It was revealed in an interview Wilson did to promote his new CBS show “A Gifted Man”. No details about the role he’ll play, but it has been confirmed by The Playlist at Indie Wire.

Other photos have made their way onto the Interwebz: leaked images from the footage shown at this year’s Comic Con in San Diego.

And still more set photos that haven’t been pulled yet over at IFC:

Cast member Rafe Spall has been promoting his new film One Day, co-starring Anne Hathaway (the new Catwoman, for those of you living under a rock), and in his chat with the Guardian he may have given away a piece of his character’s story.

And a bit off-topic, but here’s the trailer for the new Aliens video game, Colonial Marines:

BLADE RUNNER

Once Prometheus is in the can, it looks like Ridley Scott is going back to his other genre classic, Blade Runner. Scott will produce and likely direct the next movie, which hasn’t been classified yet. So we don’t know if this is a prequel or a sequel, but they don’t have rights for a remake. Alcon Entertainment has acquired the rights, and they want Scott to pick up where he left off.

But how many versions of this one will Scott make?

Collider has details, including an update that indicates it’s unlikely Harrison Ford would be involved in the new film.

Digital Spy reports that Scott will also be working with Activision in developing content for Call of Duty: Elite. Subscribers will have access to “exclusive episodic entertainment” connected with the game.

Jason P. Hunt

Jason P. Hunt (founder/EIC) is the author of the sci-fi novella "The Hero At the End Of His Rope". His short film "Species Felis Dominarus" was a finalist in the Sci Fi Channel's 2007 Exposure competition.
