Retro Games Announces Commodore 64 Replica

The Commodore 64 is the latest system to get the retro re-release treatment; only this one won’t be mini.

Retro Games and Koch Media are working together and launching The C64, a replica of the original 1980’s computer. You’ll be able to get your hands on this retro replica December 5, 2019, at around $120. Unlike the C64 Mini that released last year, The C64 will come with a working full-sized keyboard.

The C64 will come with pre-loaded games, an HDMI cable, 4 USB ports to load other C64 games, and an upgraded joystick with microswitches. The games on The C64 will be the same games bundled with the C64 mini, and will only be able to run games at 720p. The C64 will also come with BASIC pre-loaded and will allow you to switch between the modes.

“We are delighted to be working with Koch Media once more to bring back even more of the most loved retro games ever on two of the most iconic home computers of all time,” said Paul Andrews, Retro Games’ managing director.

Retro Games announced The C64 replica back in 2016. At the time, Retro Games missed their crowdfunding goal, so they put the C64 on hold. This allowed the C64 Mini to capitalize on the rising consumer interest in mini retro consoles. The C64 joins an evergrowing list of retro console re-releases, except this one has a working beige keyboard.
