Picard TREK Adds to Cast

There are a few new faces on the new Star Trek series to feature Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard.

Allison Pill, Harry Treadway, and Isa Briones have joined the cast as regulars, coming on board along previously announced castmates Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, and Evan Evagora.

Pill’s genre credits include American Horror StoryScott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Poltergeist: The Legacy. She’s been acting since age 11, when she appeared in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. She’s also been nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in The Lieutenant of Inishmore.

Treadway will be familiar to those who watched Penny Dreadful, having played Victor Frankenstein in the horror drama. His credits also include The Lone RangerCockneys vs Zombies, and the upcoming video game Squadron 42.

Briones is a relative newcomer, with credits on IMDb going back only to 2008. Before starting her acting career in 2006, she was a model in a family of performers.

As with the other cast announcements, no characters have been attached to any of the performers. That Hashtag Show posted a character breakdown list, but the descriptions are thin enough that any attempts to match actor to character at this point would be fruitless speculation.

The new show will focus on Jean-Luc Picard in a time many years after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation and subsequent movies, and it also happens after the events depicted in the 2009 reboot directed by J. J. Abrams. Plot details are sparse, but there is speculation it may have something to do with Picard’s interest in archaeology.

Stewart will also have a role as executive producer along with Alex Kurtzman, James Duff, Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Trevor Roth, Heather Kadin, and Rod Roddenberry. The show will have an initial season of ten episodes, the first two to be directed by Hanelle Culpepper. Still without an official title, the show will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.

No release date has been announced as of yet.
