OVERLORD Season 4 Announced, New Movie in Development
On May 8th, Studio Madhouse (Death Parade, No Game No Life) announced that Season 4 of the anime TV series Overlord is now in production. Madhouse also announced a movie, that will cover the two book Holy Kingdom arc of the light novels. While no dates were given for either project, a promotional image was given, depicting the main character of the series, Ainz Ooal Gown.
Released in 2010, Overlord was written by Satoshi Ōshio, an ex-businessman who created the series because he missed playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends. The series follows the undead Ainz Ooal Gown, an ex-MMO player whose newfound power has far exceeded any ethical concerns or limits he might have had when he was still a human.
The books follow his attempts to conquer a medieval fantasy world via deception and subterfuge, as he tries to ensure his allies don’t figure out that he’s really a normal human who was given fantastical abilities and a skeletal body via unknown means. The books are worldwide bestsellers, and have sold millions of copies.

The returning Japanese cast for the new season includes:
- Satoshi Hino (Napolean in Fate/Grand Order) as Ains Ooal Gown
- Yumi Hara (Marielle in Log Horizon) as Albedo
- Sumire Uesaka (Hayase Nagatoro in Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagataro) as Shalltear
- Emiri Katō (Blair in Soul Eater) as Aura
- Yumi Uchiyama (Arrow in Fire Force) as Mare
- Masayuki Katou (Urien in Street Fighter V) as Demiurge
- Kenta Miyake (All Might in My Hero Academia) as Cocytus
Director Itou said the production team is already hard at work. “At last, the fourth season of the anime and the theatrical movie are in production. We are working hard to ensure that the show will be satisfying to both fans of the original versions and those who only follow the anime. You’re going to love it.”
The character designer for the light novel series, so-bin, has expressed a great amount of joy at this news, as season four will adapt book ten of the Overlord series, which is the book so-bin “particularly enjoys.” so-bin released this picture to celebrate the new season of the anime.
There is currently no word on whether the English dub cast will remain the same or not.
