Episode 313 “Witch Hunt”

As if the family tree wasn’t complicated enough, it now is even more complex. Plus, a shout out to the Lollipop Guild! We’ll get to those in a bit.  But first …

So the Wicked Witch is in the Evil Queen’s castle going through her stuff. And the convoy of heroes is still walking through the woods. They were doing this last week and it feels like that’s how long they’ve been walking. Regina saves a little boy from a flying monkey before turning the creature into a stuffed monkey, sans wings. (Couldn’t the props department have at least attempted to sew some wings on to the toy they purchased at a department store and pretend it was supposed to be that way?) Strangely, Belle (and some of the others) are familiar with Oz by reading about it … in … a … book. Really. I didn’t know L. Frank Baum had a publisher in the Enchanted Forest, let alone that the version they read included the Lollipop Guild.

In Storybrooke, Snow is pregnant and doesn’t remember how she got that way. Apparently, they went to sleep in the Enchanted Forest and woke up back in the regenerated town in Maine with no recollection of what happened in between. And now people are disappearing. They don’t know why. Henry’s still being kept in the dark. Ironically, he’s now the only non-believer. Snow even claimed to know Emma … from prison. She claimed that she was in for “banditry”. Perhaps Snow knew she didn’t have one of those “I shanked a guy in a back alley” kinds of faces, at least not enough that Henry would buy it. Seeing Emma and Henry shocked Regina though.

Little John is with Robin Hood and the guys using a crossbow he “procured” (stole) to shoot at a turkey, missing it. As he chased the turkey to the city limit, a flying monkey abducted him. (One scarcely realizes how completely wonky all this sounds until one tries to retell it.) So Emma calls a town meeting to try and flush out the one who cast the last curse and caused the people to go missing. Regina got the blame, and everyone turned against her, including Emma. Regina decided to return to her role as the evil queen while a disguised Wicked witch looked on in delight. Then it takes a cue from professional wrestling. Emma and Regina? Working together. Yup.

Regina tried to reproduce a memory potion using a chemistry set that would make Bunsen Honeydew proud. (Not that I’m comparing Emma to Beaker, mind you.) She failed. Miserably. So instead, they used the idea of making the potion to smoke out the one who really cast the curse. Word got out quickly. (Thanks, Grumpy!)  Meanwhile, the Wicked Witch is working her way into the community, and even volunteering to help Snow with the baby, much like a dingo methinks.

Little John was found injured in the woods. He was rushed to the hospital where he had seizures and turned into a flying monkey. (So, let me get this right. First we have vampire bites that create vampires, zombie bites that create zombies, … and now flying monkey bites that create flying monkeys?) Great. First Walsh and now Little John. It looks like a new plot point is who is going to turn into aviary simians.

Flashback to the Enchanted Forest. Regina discovered that somebody broke in to the crypt that was sealed by blood magic, which nobody was supposed to break. But she went ahead and took down the magic barrier. Then she started to inflict a sleeping curse on herself that only Henry could break. She was stopped by the Wicked Witch who informed Regina that they’re sisters. Well, half sisters actually. Both are daughters of Cora who trained under Rumpelstiltskin. And now even the residents of Kentucky are baffled by the family tree.

Back to Storybrooke. Emma and Regina see that someone got into Regina’s office. It wasn’t supposed to happen since the office was supposed to be sealed by a blood spell. When they got in, they realized that the chemistry set was broken and the perpetrator disappeared in a cloud of green smoke. Along with Snow, Charming, and Hook, they deduced that is was the Wicked Witch who cast the spell. And did I mention the Wicked Witch has Rumpelstiltskin in a cage in her storm shelter?

Sibling rivalry.
Sibling rivalry.

So that’s how the story went.

Really.

There were absolutely no drugs involved in this recap.
