MGM Gets Rights to Brandon Sanderson’s SNAPSHOT Novella

MGM has purchased the rights to the novella, Snapshot, from Brandon Sanderson. The book will be published in February 2017.

The story is about a detective assigned to Snapshot Duty, when the law enforcement recreate a specific day and time to solve crimes. They can use this to find dumped weapons or determine what really happened in a domestic dispute. For the people involved in the investigations, they relive the day for the police to watch. Normally this would be a chore until the officer investigates the memory of a call that was never logged, making a horrifying discovery.

It is not known if Sanderson will write the adaptation.

Past books include Misborn, Wheel of Time, and The Stormlight Archive. He won the 2013 Hugo Award winning Best Novella The Emporer’s Sole and in 2016, Perfect State was nominated for a Hugo and Calamity was nominated for a Dragon Award. Sanderson’s book Series The Reckoners recently landed at Fox with 21 Laps producing. DMG Entertainment also got the film and licensing rights to his fantasy novel series Cosmere.

Broken Road Productions and Entertainment 306 are producing.
