MARVEL Has Been Busy This Week
First up: According to Variety, Taika Waititi is in negotiations to direct Thor: Ragnarok. Waititi appeared as Tom Kalmaku in the 2011 Green Lantern. He wrote and directed What We Do in the Shadows and wrote the script for Disney’s upcoming animated movie Moana. He is currently working on Hunt for the Wilderpeople, set to come out in 2016.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on July 28th, 2017.
Up next: Orange is the New Black director S. J. Clarkson is the director of the first two episodes of Jessica Jones. She has directed episodes of Heroes, Bates Motel, and The Bridge. Comic Book Resources quotes Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb as saying, “S.J.’s vision of the material is spectacular. She drew performances from our cast that are nothing short of remarkable,” and, “When the world gets to know Jessica Jones’ name it will be in no small part from S.J.’s sparkling talent. We can’t wait to work with her again.”
Jessica Jones will be released on Netflix on November 20, 2015.
Last but not least: Damage Control is to be adapted into a comedy series on ABC. Dwayne McDuffie and Ernie Colón first came up with the concept and pitched it to Marvel. Since then, four limited series have been released. It follows the clean-up crew of all the superheros and villains. It is developed for TV by the former executive producer of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report, Ben Karlin. He will write the script and executive produce with 3 Arts’ David Miner and Jeph Loeb.
