JESSICA JONES: Marvel’s Best Yet? — LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #69

Last week, Maia and Dan held court all on their own. This week, it’s the H2O crew in place to discuss Jessica Jones while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes a week off. The new Netflix show is dark, gritty, and would look just fine in black and white with its noir sensibilities. Definitely the darkest Marvel production to date, it could also be the best one so far.

The panel: Timothy Harvey, Jason Hunt

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Has a Tale to Tell — LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #68

This week, Maia and Dan take the reins and discuss the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. — what’s Andrew’s fate? Is May actually apologizing? Is Hunter the S.H.I.E.L.D. equivalent of Lou Costello (look him up)? And what about Fitz and Simmons?!

The panel: Maia Ades,  Dan Handley

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Descends Into Chaos — LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #67

Nobody saw it coming because it feels a little forced. But OK. [SPOILER: Andrew is Lash.]

In our discussion, we look at the arc for May and Andrew, along with a few bits for Bobbi and Hunter and some great scenes between Fitz and Simmons. Lots of things happening tonight. Is Rosalind more than what she pretends? Is she Hydra? A sleeper agent? A double agent? And how is this all going to play into Captain America: Civil War?

The panel: Maia Ades,  Kammie Settle, Christopher Preyer, Dan Handley, Timothy Harvey, Jason Hunt

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Lashes Out, and It’s Not Pretty – LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #66

Now that we’ve moved past the flashback episode that showed us Jemma’s time on Planet Purple, we pick up where we left off a couple of weeks back — Ward with a bullet in his back, Baby Strucker panicking because of something inside the convenience store, and the rest of the team sort of in limbo waiting for the writers to take their keyboards and give our S.H.I.E.L.D. agents something to do.

Too bad these writers came from season one…

The panel: Maia Ades,  Kammie Settle, Dan Handley, Timothy Harvey, Jason Hunt

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Delivers WilSim’s Story – LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #65

As we predicted on this very show, the recovery of Jemma so early in the season is just the beginning of everything. Tonight’s story: The Jemma Flashback, where we learn just what she went through, and why she insists on going back. Plus, we talk about Jessica Jones — how terribly cool is David Tennant looking?

The panel: Maia Ades,  Kammie Settle, Dan Handley, Christopher Preyer, Timothy Harvey, Jason Hunt

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Bedevils Us With Handwavium – LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #64

More Lash! And he’s not everything he appears to be. More Rosalind! And are she and Coulson actually starting to like each other? More Simmons doing the sciencey thing she’s doing because she wants to go back! And will Fitz help her or find a way to stop her? More Hunter doing a really poorly planned thing — because it’s Hunter, and May’s along for the ride. Except for that part when she goes all the way back to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters to ask for backup and have a few awkward conversations on her way out…

The panel: Maia Ades,  Dan Handley, Timothy Harvey, Jason Hunt

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Wants Lincoln; Coulson Has Eyes for the Car  — LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #63

This week, the Inhumans get a little help from the Stormtrooper-trained Tactical Unit, who apparently don’t know that they’re weapons actually can propel small life-threatening projectiles at targets.

Tension between Coulson and Daisy. Tension between Coulson and Rosalind. Tension between Daisy and Lincoln. And tension is sure to be happening between Lola and “him” when they finally meet… And when Hunter finally meets face-to-face with the guy in charge of the new Hydra, is he in for a surprise. Ward’s done a lot better for himself than our heroes may realize.

The panel: Maia Ades, Curtis Smith, Dan Handley, Christopher Preyer, Timothy Harvey

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Cranks Up The Machine – LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #62

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. delivers another solid episode that sets up quite a few questions:

  • What is Ward doing with his efforts to rebuild Hydra? Why even bother?
  • Now that May’s walkabout seems to be done, are she and Hunter going to walk into a trap?
  • What will happen with Jemma?
  • Will we see May’s parents on screen together?
  • Will Coulson ever figure out the Robin to his Batman is now going by the name Daisy?

The panel: Dan Handley, Christopher Preyer, Jason Hunt

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Finds Its New Nature — LEVEL ELEVENTY-SEVEN #61

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is back for a new season, and the Gang of Meddling Kids is back in the bunker, as well, discussing our thoughts and speculations on where Coulson & Co. are headed. Is Rosalind Price and her team working at odds from our heroes? When will Agent May return? Will our heroes find Jemma before she gets eaten? And where did Coulson get those wonderful toys?
