Kal-El Now Has a Grandfather on KRYPTON
Syfy’s prequel to the Superman mythos, Krypton, now has its lead, Seg-El.
Cameron Cuffe has been selected to play the young Kryptonian who will one day be the grandfather to Kal-El, known on Earth as Superman. Cuffe will play opposite Georgina Cambpell, who will play Lyta Zod. The two will have a forbidden romance in the midst of Seg-El’s efforts to restore his family name from the depths of dishonor.
Krypton, the unexpected prequel series, has been given a pilot order from Syfy. Executive producers are David S. Goyer and Damian Kindler. Colm McCarthy, co-executive producer, will also direct the pilot from a script by Goyer and Ian Goldberg.
Goyer at one point had been tapped to shepherd the DC Comics filmed universe, but faded into the shadows after several moments of candor during convention panels and interviews that had fans reacting negatively to his comments about superheroes such as She-Hulk and Martian Manhunter.
No premiere date has been scheduled yet.
