JOE KUBERT: 1926-2012

He’s influenced so many comic book artists and illustrators. Joe Kubert, founder of the art school that bears his name, passed away this month at the age of 85.

His achievements are many, and he leaves behind a legacy that will impact comics for generations to come. His sons Andy and Adam have followed in his footsteps and continue to lead the pack in comic book art.

Kubert was known best for his work on Sgt. Rock and the original Hawkman for DC Comics, although he worked on both sides of the street over the years (even though Marvel was Atlas at the time…). His latest work was on Before Watchmen, and a collection titled Joe Kubert Presents will be coming out later this year.
