Jacob Tremblay Becomes THE PREDATOR’s Next Target

Boyd Holbrook’s character in Shane Black’s reboot The Predator has been given a new reason to beat the extra-terrestrial monsters: a son. Room’s Jacob Tremblay is now set to join the cast that also includes Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, and Oliva Munn.

Tremblay will play the ex-marine’s son. Bullied in school, the autistic character will become a key player in the fight against the aliens due to his preternatural ability to learn languages.

Other roles the young actor has been in include The Smurfs 2, My Mother’s Future Husband, and The Last Man on Earth. However, it was his breakthrough role in Lenny Abrahamson’s Room, about a young boy raised in the confines of a small shed, that placed him on the map. Since then, Tremblay has been cast in The Book of Henry, a dramatic thriller from Jurassic World’s director Colin Trevorrow, and Wonder, the adaptation of R.J. Palacio’s novel starting Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as his parents.

Also in negations to join the cast is Thomas Jane. There are no details to his role; however, it will be his first studio movie in a while. He is best known for his role on HBO’s drama Hung and Marvel Comics’ antihero action pic, The Punisher. He recently finished shooting Stephen King’s 1922 for Netflix.

The Predator is a continuation of the original 1980’s film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but set in suburbia. The film is co-written by Black and Fred Dekker.

Filming in Vancouver will begin in February with a release date of February 9, 2018.
