INCONSTANT MOON Sci-Fi Movie is Headed By Two ARRIVAL Producers

Inconstant Moon is a 1971 short story written by Larry Niven. It takes place over the course of a single night in pre-apocalypse Los Angeles. The story focuses on a couple trying to decide how to survive and what they should do on their possible last night on Earth.

The untitled movie, which was picked up by Fox 2000, will be produced by Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps Entertainment, both of whom worked on the acclaimed film Arrival and the hit series of the summer Stranger Things. James Ponsoldt, who directed The Spectacular Now, is set to direct and help produce this film, and Daniel Casey was tapped to write the script.

Levy was nominated for an Oscar for Best Motion Picture of the Year along with Dan Levine, Aaron Ryder, and David Linde. Arrival was also nominated for an additional seven Oscars including for Cinematography, Adapted Screenplay, and Directing. It’s won an AFI Award for Movie of the Year, as well as 30 other awards. It’s been nominated for a total of 178 awards since its release.

In theaters again January 27.

Following its multiple Oscar nominations, Arrival is being rereleased in theaters on Friday, January 27. It’s ranked #143 on IMDB’s Top Ranked Movies and has an 8.2/10 rating from over 140,000 reviewers and has a 94% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s made over $174 million worldwide.

To catch a glimpse of what Levy and Cohen can do when they produce together, I highly recommend going to see Arrival in theaters. It has a lot of the same philosophical questions about humanity that I assume this new film with ask, and it’s overall an excellent movie.

Kayce Taylor

Kayce Taylor nurtured a healthy love of video games from an early age. Growing up in small-town Missouri offered plenty of free time to play the likes of Kirby, Mario (of all varieties), 007, and more. Though she was raised in a Star Wars family, her husband showed her the undeniable power of Star Trek, and she's been a fan of both ever since. If she were only allowed to watch one show for the rest of her life, she would pick The Office without hesitation. She recently began exploring photography, and even more recently went to her first comicon. She loves sci-fi/fantasy and dreams of going to Hogwarts and/or meeting a Shadowhunter.
