HRG Returns to HEROES

Deadline is reporting that Jack Coleman has joined the cast of Heroes: Reborn, making him the first alumnus to sign on to the new 13-episode series.

Coleman will reprise his role as Noah Bennett, also called “Horn-Rimmed Glasses” (HRG), the father of cheerleader Claire. Claire, for those who don’t know, is the invulnerable teenage girl who became the focus of events during the first season — “Save the cheerleader. Save the world.” Coleman’s part was originally a recurring character, but was quickly promoted to regular after gaining popularity with fans during the first season.

According to Deadline, NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt spoke at the upfronts and indicated that “some of the familiar faces from the show are bound to drop in” on Heroes Reborn, although this is the first official casting of an original cast member.

Produced by Tim Kring, the new show is a continuation of the series, not a reboot, and will debut in 2015.
