GOTHAM Adds FIREFLY Alum to Cast
In the recap for the “Selina Kyle” episode of Gotham, your humble reporter posited that there was a particular character from Bruce Wayne’s history who was conspicuously absent from the show:
In last week’s episode, we saw the beginnings of “Serious Bruce Wayne is Serious” after the funeral, and now we see the first few steps in his journey toward Batmania: the pain test with the candle, as well as the sense of doing right by others when he tries to figure out how he can help the homeless kids. It’s this scene that made me realize we’re missing Dr. Leslie Thompkins, who would fit right into this story line.
Now Fox has announced that Morena Baccarin will join the cast as Dr. Thompkins in a recurring role to be expanded to a full regular in season two.
Thompkins is described as a dedicated physician, friend of the Waynes, working at the newly opened Arkham Asylum’s Home for the Criminally Insane. Historically, she’s been an older woman with grey, silver, or white hair (depending on the version of the story), but the New 52 version is younger, showing up in Red Hood and the Outlaws #0 as a brunette tending to Jason Todd.
This is Baccarin’s first regular role on a Fox program since the cancellation of Firefly.
