_______________

We’ve recently reported on Week In Review about Neil Blomkamp’s “not really” plans to make a new Alien picture, and you’ve seen the concept art that he’s been sharing on social media for the past few weeks while he promotes Chappie.

Now, Deadline and Variety are reporting that Fox has made a deal with Blomkamp to revive the Alien franchise.

Blomkamp shared this image on Instagram:

According to the reports, the new film will take place after Prometheus 2, which is still in development with Ridley Scott, who will produce Blomkamp’s entry into the franchise through Scott Free Productions.

Blomkamp recently revealed that he had been having discussions with Sigourney Weaver about Alien while filming Chappie, and that those conversations led to much of the story ideas and concept art. Although no details have surfaced regarding Weaver’s involvement, she did tell MTV that she was open to Blomkamp’s idea, saying it “would be very organic and very original, and because of that, it would make me want to do it. If it was someone as talented as Neill, I’d certainly listen.”

So, it’s actually not “game over” yet, man.
