ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH: New Trailer

The trailer is attached to Rise of the Guardians, and it looks like the usual non-Pixar CG fare.

Brendan Fraser leads the voice cast, playing a heroic alien named Scorch Supernova, who gets imprisoned in the worst place on the worst planet in the galaxy — Area 51 on Earth. It’s up to Scorch’s nerd-wimp of a brother (Rob Corddry) to bust him out.

So, it’s a prison break movie of sorts. The film is set to release February 14th after a long legal battle between the Weinstein Company and Tony Leech, the original director on the project. Consider that this film was originally supposed to be released in 1997. Storyboard artist Cal Brunker has stepped in to direct, and the question is whether Escape will do any better than any of the other non-Pixar CG films like Mars Needs Moms or Planet 51.

Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker and James Gandolfini also star.
