Electronic Arts/DICE has partnered with Endemol Shine Studios to develop an action TV series based on the video game Mirror’s Edge, first introduced in 2007 and soon to be rebooted with Mirror’s Edge Catalyst coming out June 7.
Endemol Shine Studios is the scripted division of Endemol Shine North America, and is responsible for producing shows such as Humans, Broadchurch, The Fall, and Peaky Blinders.
“We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience,” said Sharon Hall, President of Endemol Shine Studios. “It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.”
The story is set in a futuristic society where highly skilled couriers known as “runners” engage in high-octane parkour, stunt work, and a great deal of running to deliver messages while evading government surveillance (Endemol also produces Big Brother, ironically enough).
The lead character, Faith, is pulled into the conflict against the Conglomerate after her sister is framed for murder. Faith gets enmeshed in a conspiracy that could upend society.
EA also announced that Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen will present at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2016 Global Technology Conference on June 1st in San Francisco. The presentation will be available via audio webcast.
