Several items in the casting news for DC filmed media.

Davis for The Wall

Most notable is the rumor that Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder) is in negotiations to play Amanda Waller in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. While it’s not yet been confirmed, Latino Review says their sources are saying it’s pretty much a done deal. If so, Davis would be the third Oscar nominee added to the cast, which includes Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. The only question is whether or not the film production schedule will line up with Davis’ commitment to the ABC show.

Others reportedly in contention for the role included Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey.

Beastmaster to Arrow

Comic Book Resources is reporting that Marc Singer (V, Beastmaster) will be joining the cast of Arrow this season. He’ll play General Matthew Shrieve, the commanding officer of the “Creature Commandos” who first appeared in Weird War Tales #93, written by J. M. DeMatteis with art by Pat Broderick (who has himself become the subject of some controversy of late).

From the official Arrow synopsis: “In the DC Comics, Matthew Shrieve is the leader of a group known as the Creature Commandos. In Arrow he will play a significant role in the latter portion of the season’s flashback storyline.”

The Creature Commandos were a military unit consisting of characters fitting various monster archetypes (Frankenstein’s monster, a werewolf, a vampire, and a gorgon). Earlier this year, DC Nation included three Creature Commandos animated shorts. Whether the commandos themselves will appear as part of the flashbacks, or if they’ll even be “creatures” at all if they do, remains to be seen.

Singer will appear in the fourteenth episode.

Graysons to Gotham

Jonathan Grayson and Mary Lloyd (his soon-to-be Mrs. Grayson) are among the new batch of characters that will make an appearance in upcoming episodes of Gotham.

TVLine reports that a casting call has gone out to find the Flying Graysons, a main act in Haly’s Circus, who will show up in episode 16 early in 2015. The story will foreshadow the birth and origin of Dick Grayson, the original Robin.

“We’re going to do a prenatal origin story for Robin down the line,” show runner Bruno Heller said. “There’s an episode coming up where we learn how Robin’s parents got together.”

Sibling Rivalry on The Flash?

Also according to TVLine, new characters are coming to The Flash as we head toward a full-up Rogues Gallery episode. The Tomorrow People‘s Peyton List has been added as Captain Cold’s “wild child” sister Lisa Snart, and Cisco is getting a brother played by Sleepy Hollow‘s Nicholas Gonzales.

Still no word on when Caitlin and Cisco will start manifesting their respective powers, but look for it to happen toward the season finale, if it happens this year.
