CBS Orders SUPERGIRL To Series

BANNER_News2013

CBS has officially ordered Supergirl to series.

Starring Melissa Benoist as the Maid of Might, the series marks CBS’ first foray into the modern superhero culture, and will be the third such live action project for producer Greg Berlanti, who is teaming up with Ali Adler to produce this new take on the Supergirl origin.

Along with the upcoming animated Vixen and the Flash/Arrow spinoff starring Brandon Routh, that gives Berlanti a large playground. He’s already on record saying that all of these shows live within a shared universe, so cross-over events are possible not only between shows (as has been the case with Arrow and The Flash), but also between networks, something that hasn’t been very often since it was first done with a cross-over between The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman.

The network upfronts are next week, so expect more detail — number of episodes, fall or mid-season placement, etc. — to come out of those presentations.
