According to their sources, an offer has been made, but no word on whether Cooper has agreed. The actor is probably best known nowadays for The A-Team and The Hangover series of films. He got his big break playing reporter Will Tippin on the ABC series Alias.

Other actors rumored to have been in the running included Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler, but director James Gunn took to Twitter to dispel the notion that anyone had been cast yet, and that Rocket Raccoon is a very specific type of character who needs  a distinct voice.

AT San Diego Comic Con, Marvel shared footage from the film, which had only been shooting for ten days at that point, and the entire cast was on hand for a panel. But no word at that event as to the identities of Rocket or Groot’s voices.

Vin Diesel has hinted that he may be involved in some way, perhaps as the voice of Groot. That has yet to be confirmed.
