Chris McKay, who served as animation supervisor on The LEGO Movie, was set to direct the sequel, but now will take the helm of LEGO Batman instead. Screenplay will be written by Seth Grahame-Smith. The new entry into the LEGO movie franchise may take the release date originally set for The LEGO Movie 2, but that has yet to be confirmed. The next LEGO movie will be set in the Ninjago universe, due out September 23, 2016.
Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are producing for LEGO.
