2018 Shirley Jackson Award Nominees Announced

Nominees for the 2018 Shirley Jackson Awards have been announced by The Shirley Jackson Awards, Inc. for outstanding achievement in psychological suspense, horror, and dark fantasy.

The awards are named for Shirley Jackson, author of such notable works as The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle along with the famous short story “The Lottery”. Her work continues to be an influence in fiction literature.

Voted on by a jury of professional writers, editors, critics, and academics, the awards are given for the best work published in the preceding calendar year.

Jason P. Hunt (founder/EIC) is the author of the sci-fi novella "The Hero At the End Of His Rope". His short film "Species Felis Dominarus" was a finalist in the Sci Fi Channel's 2007 Exposure competition.

  • I love that this woman has an award named after her. WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE was at Tribeca this year, and featured Crispin Glover and Bucky himself, Sebastian Stan. Sadly he did not attend the screening or we would have jumped on that!
