The negative reviews for Marvel’s The Inhumans are coming in fast and furious, but it would hardly be the first time that a book or comic got a poor adaptation to another media, let alone a beloved property get a reboot or sequel that leaves fans wondering what went so very, very wrong. This week: pondering the questions of fan expectations and the primacy of good writing over adherence to canon, and considers what he wants and expects – fairly or not – from genre adaptations.
