Freeform has announced the newest cast member to join its Shadowhunters team. Will Tudor will be appearing as fan favorite Sebastian. Many fans, including myself, have been wondering who would be playing this pivotal role and when he would show up. Showrunner Todd Slavkin has hinted on social media the character would be making his debut in the second half of season 2, but it wasn’t until today that we received any news on who would be portraying him.
Tudor, a London-born actor, has played several roles in various TV series, including Olyvar in Game of Thrones and Odi in Humans. He was also a part of the Vampire Academy cast with fellow shadowhunter, Dominic Sherwood, who plays Jace in this show. Their history goes back even beyond that movie, as well, as mentioned in the Facebook live video used to announced Tudor’s addition to the shadowhunter family.
The character is beloved by readers, despite his… flaws. He has a large following of fans eager to see him portrayed on screen for the first time. All of the secrecy from Slavkin and everyone involved with the show over this character has kept fans anxiously awaiting news for his debut.
Freeform saw the second season premiere of Shadowhunters take the number 1 spot for most social TV show. The show also won two Teen Choice awards at the end of December for Breakout Show and Breakout Star (Matthew Daddario).
IMDB shows Tudor listed for episode 10 of season 2, which is currently unnamed. According to the site, it’s scheduled to air on March 6, much sooner than the summer estimate that was hinted at, and possibly the mid-season finale if the air date is correct. He is only listed for one episode thus far, but given the prominence of his character in the books, I expect that will change as the show moves closer to the second half of this season.
I am very excited to see what Tudor can do with the character of Sebastian. He seems perfect for the role, and Slavkin even said he got chills during Tudor’s table reading for his part.
Shadowhunters airs on Mondays at 8/7c on Freeform. You can watch all of the episodes on the app or site. And don’t forget to check out our weekly reviews and recaps of the show, as well!
