Fox has announced they will air a second season of the psychological thriller Wayward Pines.

Produced by M. Night Shyamalan along with Donald De Line (Green Lantern), Ashwin Rajan (Devil, The Visit), Mark Friedman (The Forgotten), and Black Crouch, Wayward Pines is based on Crouch’s best-selling series of books. Ten episodes will air in Summer 2016, picking up where season one left off — a new arrival to the town finds himself in the midst of a rebellion “as the residents battle over how to preserve the endangered human race.”

David Madden, Fox Broadcasting’s President of Entertainment, made the announcement.  “Wayward Pines was a huge hit for us this past summer. We were absolutely blown away by the mysterious and surprising world that Night and his team created, and the twisting-and-turning storytelling that drew viewers in from day one,” said Madden. “Season Two is going to take the suspense, the vision of the future and the haunting character drama to whole new levels, and we can’t wait for our fans to continue that ride next year.”

Wayward Pines is the story of a Secret Service agent looking for two missing federal agents in the small Northwest town of Wayward Pines, where he finds much more than he was expecting. The first season ranked as the summer’s top broadcast scripted series among the coveted demographic, Adults 18-49, and fell into the top ten broadcast programs overall for the summer in the same key demographic.
