The spinoff to AMC’s The Walking Dead, currently being called Cobalt, has cast Kim Dickens in the remaining lead role.
Dickens (Sons of Anarchy, Gone Girl) will play Nancy Tompkins, a guidance counselor with two children (played by Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey). She, along with Cliff Curtis, will lead the ensemble in the new story. According to reports, she’ll have a “troubled past” and will be dating Curtis’ character, Sean Cabrera, a divorced teacher.
Set in Los Angeles, it’s unclear if the spinoff will take place in the same time frame as The Walking Dead, but some rumors have it set as a prequel. Filming will begin in early 2015. The new show will be headed up by co-creator Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson
