The latest news from around the Syfy world (which is really Vancouver…) is here:
RENEWALS (and NEWals)
Syfy has renewed both “Warehouse 13” and “Alphas” after cancelling “Eureka”. Movie Web has deets on WH13, and Zap2It has this interview with show-runner Jack Kenny on what’s in store for next season. Airlock Alpha has details on the “Alphas” pick-up.
Speaking of the end of “Eureka” – and we have to do that at some point, don’t we? – here’s a Geeks of Doom video of some of the cast talking about the end. With a great bit from Wil Wheaton:
Jack Kenny also has this at Airlock Alpha regarding the rumored H. G. Wells spinoff of “Warehouse 13”. He says the network loves the idea, although it’s only in pitch form right now, and not further developed as the Syfy folks have led us to believe. Wells would be more of a Sherlock Holmes type of character, solving problems and also dealing with Warehouse business.
Danny Trejo will be joining Charisma Carpenter and M.C. Gainey in the Syfy original “Haunted High”. He’ll play the janitor/secret protector of the school.
Reuters has this wrap-up of the finale dates and schedule for upcoming “event” shows like the new “Neverland”.
And what about “Blood and Chrome”? There’s still a chance it will go straight to the web, although in this report from Airlock Alpha, Syfy still hasn’t said officially yet one way or another.
Syfy is also remaking The Philadelphia Experiment starring Malcom McDowell and Nicholas Lea. Shooting has begun in Vancouver. Michael Pare, the original star, gets a cameo in this version. [Reuters]
Monsters & Critics talked with Rick Howland about “Lost Girl” and how his character fits into the mix. “Lost Girl” has been airing in Canada, and will soon be seen on Syfy in the US.
The Chicago Tribune sat with Alaina Huffman and Julia Benson – formerly of “Stargate: Universe”, and they talked about their new projects. Huffman (see our interview here) is still working on “Agent Mom”, while Benson and her husband are working with Ryan Copple (“Reise”) to develop a new project. [VIDEO at the Tribune]
FANGORIA caught up with Allison Scagliotti and discussed how she landed the part of Claudia on “Warehouse 13” and what we could see next season. Scagliotti also did an interview with BlogCritics and talked about her work on the show and what she’d like to see happen with her character.
Newsarama has this interview with “Haven” star Emily Rose about being in another genre show after “Jericho” and what fans can anticipate for Audrey.
The Daily Blam! has the promo for the new season here.
The Morton Report has an interview with Niall Matter, who plays Zane on “Eureka”.
The Toronto Sun spoke with Azita Ghanizada about her enhanced-sense Alpha, Rachel, whom the actress compares to Scooby-Doo in terms of abilities and how the character is used on the show.
NEW SCREEN SHOTS
Syfy recently released new screen shots of the upcoming video game/TV show combination “Defiance”, which they dropped at Gamescom 2011. Joystiq has details and a gallery.
SECOND STAR TO THE RIGHT
Syfy has also shared details on the upcoming “Neverland”, which features Keira Knightley as the voice of Tinkerbell and Bob Hoskins as Smee (again). This particular story presents the history of how Peter Pan became the Boy Who Never Grew Up. [More at Britscene]
As you know, this web site is all about science fiction, and there are those who question Syfy’s decision to include wrestling on the network. So we tend to ignore it, but we’ll share this little tidbit at Contact Music, with regard to the recent live event.
