"The Big Bang Theory" Gets 3-Year Pickup

On Wednesday, CBS announced it was picking up “The Big Bang Theory” for another three years.

This means the adventures of Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, Howard, and Penny will go further on into 2014. And more than likely, there will be plenty of opportunities for Sheldon to finally win his feud with Wil Wheaton.

And maybe a cameo from Lynda Carter? Or Richard Hatch (Apollo, not the “Survivor” dude…)

And geeks will continue to be validated and accepted as part of the mainstream culture.

Along with the recent $2 million per episode syndication deals that start this fall, “Big Bang Theory” is quickly becoming one of CBS’ crown jewels, raking in revenues above $4 million per episode on the network. And now that it’s the anchor show for the Thursday night line-up, it’s out of the shadow of “Two and a Half Men” (which could be dying a slow, intoxicated, burned-out death…).

Bill Prady via his Twitter: “A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful fans whose support is a huge part of today’s news. Thanks!”
